Starting at Yatton Keynell Under 5’s

The First Days- Welcome!

We want to make leaving your child at Yatton Keynell Under 5’s a pleasant and
rewarding experience for both you and your child. You will be invited for an induction
session before your child is due to start, where you and your child can get a feel for
the setting and routine and start to build relationships with the staff and other
children. When you arrive for your first session please take your child in to join the
others and leave them when you are ready to do so. If you or your child has a
difficulty in being apart, the staff are there to help and make the experience as
easy as possible. Please feel free to telephone should you have any worries.

What to Wear

  1. In order to feel free and explore and experiment with all kinds of materials
including messy ones, it is best to send children dressed in clothes that are
easily washable and not too new. Our Yatton Keynell Under 5’s polo shirts and
    sweatshirts are ideal.
  2. It is good for children to practise the skills that will make them independent.
Simple clothing, which they can handle themselves, will enable them to go to
the toilet when they want to and to put on and take off their outdoor clothes
without being too dependent on other people’s help.
  3. Children are asked to bring wellies when it is wet.
  4. We do have facilities for nappy changing should your child need it- please
remember to supply nappies and wet wipes in a named bag.

We request that all your child’s property including bags, lunchboxes, wellies and
outdoor coats etc be clearly named.

Beginning and End of Sessions

Beginning

  1. Parents must sign in their child by writing their name on our signing in sheet
and the name of the adult who will be collecting their child.
  2. Lunch boxes can be put on a table inside the hall.
  3. Please help your child to find their name and it put it on the self-registering
    board.
  4. Outdoor clothing and bags can be hung up on their peg in entrance hall.
  5. Many children can be prone to ‘little accidents’ occasionally, so a change of
clothes in a suitable bag can be hung on their peg.
  6. Take your child into the hall where staff will greet you and your child.

End

  1. Your child can be collected from the hall and on your arrival will be your
    responsibility once again.
  2. Personal belongings, folders, information and work can be collected from a
table at the top of the hall.
  3. If you wish to talk informally with staff/ your child’s keyworker, please wait
until all children have been collected.

We hope that your child’s time at Yatton Keynell Under 5’s will be a very happy and
productive one. If you have any queries or if we can be of any help, please contact
the staff or committee at any time (details listed in your welcome pack and on the
notice board or phone 07766579909). Healthy Eating

Yatton Keynell Under 5’s is committed to encouraging young children to learn about
the benefits of healthy eating. Therefore we like the children to come to pre-school
with healthy packed lunches. Government guidelines suggest that children should
have one item from each of the sections in the chart below, which we have put
together to give you some idea of the variety of food available to enocurage your
child to enjoy a healthy and balanced diet.
