Management and administration

Decision Making

Yatton Keynell Under 5’s is run by an elected, voluntary committee, which ensures
that major decision-making, is in the hands of the parents who use the group.
The committee and supervisor work closely together to review both policy and
practise within the setting and for managing the employment and appraisal of
members of staff.

Our AGM, at which the committee for the following year is elected, is held in
September and parents/carers will be informed in good time so that they are able to
attend.

Admissions and Booking Policy

We endeavour to give you the sessions that you would like for your child. However
this is not always possible and some flexibility and compromise is required. We
welcome all families regardless of where they live, their choice of primary school or
if they attend another pre-school or not. We maintain close links with By Brook
Valley School. However your attendance at Yatton Keynell Under 5’s will have no
bearing on whether or not you will be offered a place at the school.

Pre-schools manage on a very tight budget and it is in the children’s interest to
attend regular sessions. Therefore we:

  1. Charge for every session booked for that term- even if your child is unable to
    attend.
  2. Request that any change of sessions must be made in writing and agreed with
the supervisor at least 6 weeks in advanced.
  3. Require 6 weeks written notice of terminating sessions otherwise fees apply as
    normal.
  4. A non-refundable deposit of £20 is requested at the time of booking to
secure your child’s place. When your child starts pre-school they will be given a Yatton Keynell Under 5’s polo shirt and sweatshirt.

Fees

  1. Fees are payable in advance through notification within the first two weeks of
term and can be handed to a member of staff. Cheques are preferred and
should be put in a named sealed envelope marked ‘Fees.’
  2. Fees continue to be payable if a child is absent and in the case of prolonged
absence parents/ carers should consult the committee about fee payment.
  3. Each child’s attendance at the pre-school is conditional upon continued
payment of any necessary fees and/ or presentation of nursery vouchers.
  4. If you have difficulty paying the fees or have a query please contact the
treasurer immediately so that any problems can be sorted out.
  5. Consistent failure to pay fees will result in your child being excluded from the
    group.
  6. The committee reviews fees annually in June.
  7. In the case of emergency closure of the pre-school, which are beyond our
control and if the temperature in the hall is below 18 degrees Celsius, fees are
non refundable but another session will be offered to replace the lost ones.
